John Lowery (Dick) Freeman, age 88, of Chesapeake City, MD passed away Sunday March 3, 2013 at Caraway Manor in Elkton, MD.
He was born in Galena, MD on March 22, 1924 to the late C. Harvey and Leona Lowery Freeman. He graduated from Galena Public School in 1940. Mr. Freeman was raised and worked on his parents’ farm in Galena, MD. He started his own dairy farming in 1948 and continued to farm until 1963. He prided himself on his registered herd of Holsteins. He worked for Chrysler Corporation for 24 years, retiring in 1988. He loved to read and work in his yard.
He was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Mabel R. Freeman, who passed away in 1983. He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia F. Luzetsky and her husband Richard of Elkton, MD; a grandson, Jason A. Luzetsky, and a great grandson Joshua E. Luzetsky, both of Chesapeake City, MD; a sister, Anna F. Hamilton of Naples, FL and a brother C. Robert Freeman of Kennedyville, MD, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Jeannette Freeman and 4 brothers, Harvey Freeman, Roy Freeman, Elmer Freeman and James E. Freeman.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Caraway Manor for the excellent care they provided to John.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday March 8, 2013 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 318 George St., Chesapeake City, MD 21915, with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Galena Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Caraway Manor for the entertainment fund for the residents c/o the funeral home.
