John Henry Lewis, 95 of Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 10, 2023. Born on July 31, 1927, in Damascus, VA. He was the late son of Jacob and Myrtle Elizabeth Osborne Lewis.

Henry worked on the assembly line at General Motors where he retired. He loved playing pool, checkers and connect four. He loved spending his free time at the auction and spending time out with his family and friends. Henry was big on his country music and the outdoor air. He was generous and kind, always helping someone even if he didn’t know them.

He is survived by his children, Terry Justus, Pete Lewis, Candy Lewis, Harriet Lewis Anderson, and Barbardette Lewis David; his brother Ralph; 17 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren.

Henry is proceeded in death by his late wife Janet Lewis, and his companion of 37 years, Frances Shores; his brothers Harold Lewis, Wills Lewis, James Lewis, Howard Lewis and sister Susie Lewis; his son Rea Lewis; his grandson Michael Lewis, great granddaughter Lisa and great grandson Anthony.

A Visitation will be held May 8, 2023 from 6PM to 8PM at the R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 E. Main Street, Elkton, MD, 21921. A Celebration of Life will be held the following day, May 9, 2023 at 11AM at the funeral home, where friends may begin visiting 1 hour prior to services. Burial will follow immediately after the services at The North East Cemetery, 13 Cemetery Road, North East, MD. 21901.
