John E. Parker, 82, of North East, MD, formerly of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 24, 2014 at his home.
Born January 14, 1932 in Natural Bridge, VA, John was the son of the late John Robert and Hortense Clare Parker. John graduated from Havre de Grace High School, Class of 1952 and went on to dedicate 39 years of service working as a civilian employee for the Maryland National Guard. He was a member of Men’s Auxiliary with the North East VFW Post 6027 and the Eder-George Club also in North East, MD. He served his community as a Notary Public for nearly 50 years, assisted with tax preparation for nearly 40 years and was a Scout Leader for Troop 966. John enjoyed fishing, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards with Lizzie, and writing; he was known for his skilled penmanship. But what John loved most in his life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchild. He loved watching them play baseball and was very proud of them.
John is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Anna Elizabeth “Lizzie” Parker of North East, MD; sons, E. Fernando Parker, Sr. and Lisa White of Churchville, MD and Carl H. Parker and his fiancé, Esther Cusimano of Port Deposit, MD; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Tivis Morris Parker; his sister, Dorothy Marie Drier, and countless nieces and nephews. Including his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
A memorial will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on August 3, 2014 at the North East VFW Post 6027.
