John E. Rankin III

John E. Rankin III, age 65, of Rockville, MD passed away May 2, 2020. He was born on June 27, 1954 in SE Washington, D.C. to the late John E. Rankin, Jr. and Blanche Etta Rankin (Rowe).

John was intelligent, funny, charismatic, and family oriented. He was always talking to different and new people. A few of his hobbies included watching CNN news, reading, and listening to smooth Jazz. An avid Washington Nationals fan, he could be spotted wearing their baseball cap every day. John was last a proposal writer for Microsoft. He also loved all kinds of different food. Whether it was Ethiopian, Tex-Mex, or a just some Popeyes Louisiana Chicken, he would never turn it down. He was also proud to be an alumnus of Philips Exeter Academy and Wesleyan University.

John is survived by his daughter, Monica Rankin; son, John E. Rankin IV “Jake”; daughter, Ana Carolina Rankin, sister, Maria Rankin; nephew, Paul Rankin, Jr.; and nephew, Torrence Rankin. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his brother, Paul Rankin, Sr.

Services for John will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “American Heart Association” and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
