John Douglas Ewing, age 58 of Newark, DE, passed away January 16, 2018 peacefully at home surrounded by his Wife, his son, and close friends. He was born in Wilmington, DE to the late John and Lorene Ewing.
Doug was the original founder of Ewing Towing of Newark in 1980. A service advisor at Del Trans, both he and his wife of 37 years were avid campers, and had been weekend warriors at Pequea Creek Campground for the better part of the last 20 years.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Ann Ewing; son, Billy Ewing; Father-in Law, Bill Di Edoardo; sister, Carol Fretz; Brother-in-Law Mike Di Edoardo (Karen); Sister-in-Law, Denise Duval; nephews, Mike & Chris DiEdoardo, Derek & Kyle Ewing; nieces, Ashley (Tommy) Kavanagh & Megan (Frank) Garbacz; and lifelong friend, Frankie Halling. He is also survived by three great nieces and his side-kick Mini Pinscher, Bailey. In addition to his parents, Doug is preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Joan K. DiEdoardo; brothers Mark & James Ewing; and friend, Jeff Harris.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Delaware Hospice” and sent in care of the R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.
