John Chandler Davis (72) of Chesapeake City, Maryland passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023. Born on October 2, 1950 in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Theodore and Eleanor (nee, Ruch) Davis and the devoted husband of Trudy (nee, McDougall) Carter.
John graduated from Hatboro-Horsham High School in 1968. After graduation, John enlisted in the U.S. Army. After The Army, John was employed by The Budd Company where he built locomotives and train cars. He then found his niche in aircrafts and resided in several states employed by various aircraft facilities before retiring from Dassault-Falcon in New Castle, Delaware where he was a master aircraft mechanic. According to his friends and co-workers, if any part of the aircraft needed repairs, John was the man! He was also a proud member of the Local UAW 1542.
John enjoyed working on aircrafts, eating crabs with friends and family, riding his bicycle, going on cruises, bird watching, visiting the shore and living on the C&D Canal where he watched various water activities including tug boats and ships. John was an avid fan of the Phillies and Eagles. He also loved his dog, Thunder, and telephone calls with his grand-daugher Kaylee, who he helped raise from a child. John became friends with members of a grief group that he attended after the loss of his wife, Helen.
John was a kind and generous person. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. John fought a battle with cancer for many years. He is now in heaven and no longer in pain.
John is survived by his wife, Trudy Carter, who he fell head over heels in love with after meeting at their grief group.
All services were held privately by R.T. Foard Funeral Home. Donations in John’s honor may be made to Penn Medicine Abramson Cancer Center.
