Joann O. Jones of Earlville, MD, age 77, passed away Friday, October 13, 2017. She was born on February 3, 1940 in Baltimore, MD to the late Robert Lee Overman and Elizabeth Minetta (Adair) Overman.

Joann earned her Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of Miami where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. She had a great love of animals and raised Brittany spaniels. Joann was a part of many organizations, including The Daughters of the American Revolution and Ducks Unlimited; and was a national officer in both the Daughters of the American Colonialists and Colonial Dames. She was involved with several churches in the area and was a member of the Towne Point United Methodist Church. Joann enjoyed watching her favorite teams the Ravens, the Eagles and the Miami Hurricanes. Joann loved spending time near the water where she would often collect shells.

Joann is survived by her son, Robert Jones and his companion, Marcee Gainey, three grandchildren: Sara Jones, Robert Morgan Jones, II and Mairead Pearleman; and her brother, Robert Overman.

A celebration of Joann’s life will be held from 3-5 PM on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 E. Main St., Elkton, MD 21921. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to “American Brittany Rescue” and sent in care of the funeral home.
