JoAnn Kennedy, age 75 of Rising Sun, MD, passed away on April 7, 2016. She was born on February 22, 1941 in Jonesville, NC to the late, Lucille (Myers) Sexton.
JoAnn was a member of the American Legion Post 194 Ladies Auxiliary. She worked at Calvert Manor Nursing Home and Cecil County Public Schools as a cafeteria worker. JoAnn enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren as well as her family in NC. She will always be remembered by her beautiful smile and putting others above herself.
JoAnn is survived by her husband, Donald (Buckwheat) Kennedy, of Rising Sun, MD; son, Charles Barry Kennedy and his wife, Linda, of Rising Sun, MD; daughters: Donna Kennedy Cochran and her companion, Chris Wiggins, of Rising Sun, MD and Teresa Kerchevale and her husband, Earl, of Rising Sun, MD; six grandchildren: Shannon Reed, Shawn Kennedy, Amanda Kerchevale, Joshua Kennedy, Sarah Kennedy, and Travis Kerchevale; three great-grandchildren: Sydney Strimel, Bentley Kennedy, and Raelyn Kennedy; and her beloved dog, Abbey.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Sexton; step-father, Charlie Sexton; and grandson, Christopher Michael Kennedy.
A celebration of JoAnn’s life will be held, Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A. 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. A visitation will be held before the service, beginning at 10:00 AM as well as Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM where friends and family are welcome to attend. Burial will follow the service at Rosebank Cemetery, 137 Brick Meetinghouse Road, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
