JoAnn Evelyn Starr, age 74 of Garnett Valley, PA passed away on June 12, 2026. She was born on November 17, 1951 in Wilmington, DE.

JoAnn’s greatest joy in life was dancing. She was an extremely talented and beautiful ballroom dancer. Traveling the nation and winning many competitions. She enjoyed taking photographs and nature scenes were her best work. JoAnn loved to travel and has visited many countries throughout the world during her lifetime. She liked to play Bingo and her friends always joked about how she never lost. She won every time she played. JoAnn loved the Philadelphia Phillies and considered herself a Philly Phanatic. JoAnn was a devout Catholic and was a long-standing member of Immaculate Heart of Mary where she served as a Sacristan. JoAnn will forever be remembered for her fierce independence and missed by all of her beloved friends and family.

JoAnn is survived by the daughter she never had, Heather Vasecka, her husband, Robert, and their daughter, Sophie; adopted sister, Michelle “Sis” Brown and her husband, Patrick; and her cousin, Tom Roman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026 at 11AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 4701 Weldin Road, Wilmington, DE 19803. A visitation will begin at 10AM. Burial will take place on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 10:30AM at All Saints Cemetery. Donations in JoAnn’s honor may be made to “Immaculate Heart of Mary” and sent in care of R.T.
