Joan F. Rooney, 82, of Elkton, MD, passed away September 13, 2013 at Union Hospital.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on March 2, 1931, Joan was the daughter of the late Edward and Alice Beckingham Coughlin. Joan was a resident of Elkton since 1982 and worked as a secretary for the Elkton Chamber of Commerce. She was an avid reader of mysteries and enjoyed everything Disney.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her niece Kathryn Nottingham and her husband Daniel and grandnephew Dylan of Melrose, MA and nephew Kevin Collins and his wife Audrey and grandniece Paige of Louisville, KY; 3 step children Frances G. Murphy, Carol Ann Newcomb and Daniel A. Rooney, III. She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel A. Rooney, Jr.
A service honoring her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday September 18, 2013 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main St., Elkton, MD 21921 with a visitation beginning at 10:00. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution checks may be made payable to Friends of the Elkton Library and mailed to the funeral home.

Rooney Family So sorry for your loss, I met Joan several years ago when I served on Committees, in our Town and when I was Elkton Town Commissioner. I always enjoyed talking with her when I would call the Chamber Office.She was always ready to help where it was needed. Her kindness will always be remembered. She is in Gods Hands and Iam sure she is offering her help to him. God Bless You all you are in my prayers.
