Jewel D. Brooks, 81, of Rising Sun, MD passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015.
Born January 15, 1934 in Lancing, NC, Jewel was the daughter of the late Henry and Nanny Clyde (Barker) Keys. Jewel retired from the Chrysler Corporation in 1996 to devote her time to her wonderful family. She cherished her days spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was an extremely devoted mother and grandmother. She loved spending time at her grandson’s farm (Richie Brooks) watching her great grandson, Lucas, ride the horses.
Jewel is survived by her four children, Richard Brooks, Sr. (Anna Brooks) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Timothy Brooks (Gwen Trammel) of Colora, MD, Kimberly Brooks Flaharty of Elkton, MD, and Kathy Brooks Albright (Rich Matoni) of Middletown, DE; six grandchildren, Richard William Brooks, Jr., Crysten Mahan, Christopher Brooks, Trisha Hayden, Stephanie Flaharty-Lucas, and Derrick Flaharty; and ten great grandchildren, Nicholas Brooks, Chassidy McGonigle, Christian Farris, Douglas McGonigle, Lucas Brooks, Tripp Flaharty, Dustan Mahan, Blaine Lucas, Cameron Hayden, and Chase Hayden.
Including her parents, Jewel was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, William H. Brooks; two brothers, Paul and Kyle Keys; and four sisters, Marie Elderth, Ester Childers, Marlyn Rowland, and Florence Goss.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8pm Friday, October 23, 2015 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 South Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. A service will be held at 11am Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Pleasant View Baptist Church, 150 Downin Lane, Port Deposit, MD 21904, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10am.
