Jessie Lee Hackbarth (Blackburn), 89 of Elkton, MD passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Union Hospital of Cecil County, MD. She was born February 2, 1928 in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late Webb Blackburn and Pearl Baldwin.
Jessie was a member of Middletown Baptist Church in Middletown, DE. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and bowling. She was a self-taught guitarist and pianist. She also loved to sing. She retired from Perry Point Veterans Hospital where she worked as a nursing assistant.
Jessie is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Eastridge and her husband James of Rising Sun, MD., Phyllis Walls of Elkton, MD., and Pamela Aquilino and her husband Angelo of Earlville, MD.; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. She is also survived by brothers, Bradley Blackburn of Delaware and Richard Blackburn of North Carolina; sisters, Imogen Saunders and Evalene Baugus both of North Carolina, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jessie was also preceded in death by her son Randall Brooks; brothers, Elmer and Earl Blackburn; and sisters, Thelma Leaf and Iva Ruth Stout.
A celebration of life for Jessie will be 11 am on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Rising Sun, MD. Family and friends are called to visit from 10-11 am.
