Jeryl (Jerry) E. Hawkins, age 73, of Newark, DE passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021. Jerry was born on September 17, 1947 in Wilmington, DE to the late Earl Eastburn and Betty Jean (Hutchison) Eastburn.

Jerry worked as a licensed staff agent for State Farm Insurance in Newark, DE for 34 years and retired in 2016. She enjoyed going on cruises with her fiancé, Delbert Jones. Jerry loved listening to Patsy Cline and gospel music. Her biggest joy was her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by her fiancé, Delbert F. Jones of Bear, DE; sons: Douglas G. Hawkins and his wife Gin of Bear, DE, Kevin E. Hawkins and his wife, Sherri of Newark, DE, Donovan M. Hawkins and his wife, Jennifer of Bear, DE; daughters: Kimberlee L. Thompson and her husband, Shawn of Newark, DE, Lori J. Fleishman and her husband, Steven of Sicklerville, NJ; sister, Kristi Weiner and her husband, Bruce of Tampa, FL; 9 grandchildren: Shelby McLearie and her husband, Nick, Jessica Young, Madelyn, Travis, Thomas, J.P., Cora, Lillian and Vivianne Hawkins; 2 great-grandchildren: Chloe and Cash McLearie; sister-in-law, Carla Eastburn of Elkton, MD; 3 nieces and 1 nephew. In addition to her parents, Jerry is preceded in death by her brother, Lee Eastburn.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711 where family and friends may start visiting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be immediately after at White Clay Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Christiana Hospital Floor 3E, especially Kristin, for the special care of our mother.
