Jelka Madic Shelton, 67, of Lewes, Delaware, formerly of Landenberg, Pennsylvania, passed away at home on Friday, June 19, 2015. She was surrounded by loving family. She was born in Frankfurt, Germany on September 12, 1947. She came to the United states at the age of 9. She was the daughter of the late Vasilije and Irmgard Schilling Madic.
She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She worked at Wilmington Trust Company as a Wealth Advisory Administrator until she retired in 2006. Her greatest passion, other than family, was travel. She and her husband traveled extensively. Jelka really enjoyed searching travel sites on the Internet. She turned this passion into a business and started her own travel agency – Dream Caribbean Vacations. She took great pride in finding the best travel deals at top rated resorts and cruises for family and friends and also for everyone else who used her services.
Jelka is survived by her husband France C. Shelton, her children, Dawn Marie Cleveland and Robert (Amanda) Gardner, her grandchildren, Ashton Cleveland, Felicity Gardner, Dorian Gardner and Gabriel Clark, her sisters and brother, Ingrid (Bill) Gurney, Peter (Sheree) Madic and Chrissy (Phil) Iadisernia. She was preceded in death by her sister Edith D. Leager.
A Celebration of Jelka’s Life will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 12:00pm at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 525 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark, Delaware 19711. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the services beginning at 11:00am. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery on Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, Delaware.
