Jeanne A. McGirr, age 91, of Landenberg, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 13, 2018. Born June 19, 1927 in Providence, RI, Jeanne was the daughter of the late William and Helen (Dunlevy) Edgerly. Dearly loved and predeceased by her Husband John Joseph and her two brothers Donald and William.

In addition to raising 6 children and nurturing many grands along her journey, Jeanne worked as a Registered Nurse, dedicating thirty years of her service to the Newark Community. When she was not working, she enjoyed spending time playing the piano, she was an accomplished pianist who held a great love for Classical music. She was also a very competitive dog breeder, mastering the bloodline of her German Shepherds on “The Hill” in Delaware.

Jeanne is survived by five sons: Michael McGirr and his wife Lisa of Salinas, CA, John McGirr and his wife, Olga of Newark, DE, Dan McGirr and his wife, Debbie of Rockledge, FL, Matthew McGirr and his wife, Denise of Pinellas, FL and Tim McGirr and his wife, Jackie of Hockessin, DE; daughter, Peggy McGirr-Crowley and her husband, Thomas of Landenberg, PA; next are the “feathers in her cap” as she lovingly referred to her eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held in Jeanne’s honor at 2PM on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the “Wounded Warriors Project” and sent in care of R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711.
