Jeanette C Simon (05/02/1927 – 10/18/2019) a mother, wife, MomMom to others and Gigi to a handful passed away peacefully with her son and daughter-in-law by her side.
After working a career and retiring, Jeanette always enjoyed the small pleasures in life: cooking and baking for her family, attending church services, spending time with her family, reading a good book, doing crossword puzzles or just enjoying the company of her friends. Holidays would always bring a smile to her face when she saw the family around the table for Grace and sharing stories and laughs together. Jeanette looked forward to phone calls from family especially Colleen, since visits were harder to do as they both aged. She wasn’t a large fan of sports but her husband made her a true Steelers fan for life and always wanted to make sure she knew how they were doing during football season. Jeanette will be dearly missed by all those that had the fortune to have met and loved her.
Jeanette was preceded in death by the love of her life, William James Simon, her parents Jeff and Monnie, her son James Simon and his wife Margie, her brother Kenneth David, and her sister Macy Cantrell as well as many other loved ones.
Her memory lives on with her sons Eddie Simon of California, and (Roger) Dale Simon and his wife Donna of Delaware. The grandchildren, Bobby, Joan Marie both of New Jersey, Kimberly, Jennifer Campbell and her husband William all from Delaware and Amanda from California, all share special memories of her wonderful Sunday dinners and desserts.
Jeanette also had the pleasure of becoming a great-grandmother to several wonderful children. This was a role she enjoyed and would bring smiles to her face seeing them all. Jeanette loved a huge hug or being shown the newest toy they received. Her great-grandchildren include Janae, Brooklyn, Jordyn, Cameron, and Gabriella.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at R T Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 Main St., Newark, DE 19711, where family and friends may begin visiting at 9:30am.
