Jean “Gigi” Ritter, age 75, of Chesapeake City, MD passed away Friday, May 3, 2013. Born in Earleville, MD on November 12, 1937, Jean was the daughter of the late Earl and Hilda (King) Lockwood.
Jean graduated from Cecilton High School in 1955 then went on to work for the DuPont Company. When Jean and her loving husband, Jack started a family, Jean took great pride in raising her family at home. She began working as a secretary for Bohemia Manor High School, where she worked until her retirement. Jean was a proud member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesapeake City, MD and a long time volunteer for the Chesapeake City Little League. She was also a volunteer for Union Hospital in Elkton, MD and for the Food Bank of Delaware. She was also an avid Card Club member. Jean enjoyed watching her grandchildren playing the variety of sports that they are involved in and took great pleasure in spending time with her loving family and friends.
Jean is survived by her sons, John A. Ritter, Jr. and his wife, Lynn of Middletown, DE, Jeffrey A. Ritter and his wife, Teresa of Chesapeake City, MD, and James L. Ritter and his wife, Reni of Elkton, MD; daughter, Pamela R. Geracimos and her husband, Dean of Chesapeake City, MD; brothers, Harry Lockwood of Earleville, MD, Alan Lockwood of Tempe, AZ, Carroll Lockwood of Warwick, MD, and Roland Lockwood of Plattsburgh, NY; sisters, Mary Smith of Canyon Lake, TX, Edith Stubbs of Elkton, MD, and Mamie Haggerty of Earleville, MD; grandchildren Brandon and Kaitlyn Ritter, Nicholas and Alexandria Geracimos, Hannah, Kelsey Ritter, Paige, and Abagail Ritter.
In addition to her parents, Jean was also predeceased by her husband, John (Jack) Ritter who passed away in 2007.
Services will be held in Jean’s honor at 11:00am Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 3135 Summit Bridge Rd, Bear DE 19701 where family and friends may call one hour prior. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chesapeake City Little League c/o R.T.
