Jean Alice Adams, 77, of North East, MD passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 2, 2016.
Born August 6, 1938 in Newton Hamilton, PA, Jean was the daughter of the late Don and Jessie (Estep) Strausser. She was a member of the American Legion – Mason Dixon Post 194 Ladies Auxiliary where she was a Past President. She was a homemaker for 26 years before beginning a waitressing career. She loved cooking, gardening, reading, trivia and playing scrabble. She also loved her dogs Mandy and Lucy. Jean cherished her time spent with her family.
Jean is survived by her four children, Joseph Edward Adams of Newark, DE, John Charles Adams of North East, MD, Valerie Annette Adams of Shingle Springs, CA, and Elizabeth Suzanne Gwaltney and her husband, Jerry of North East, MD; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Donald Strausser and his wife, Mary, Roy Strausser and his wife Patsy all of Florida, Dale Strausser and his wife, Bonnie, and Mildred Bick all of Pittsburgh, PA.
A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on 11 August 2016 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911, where family and friends may visit beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the Disabled American Veterans, and sent in care of the funeral home.
