Jane was a treasured sister to Betsy Hilaman, Jay Tosh, and Norman Tosh. She was loved by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and dear friends.
Jane grew up in Rising Sun, MD on the Tosh Farm with her 3 siblings. There are endless stories about the fun and mischief they all had together. She graduated from Rising Sun High School in 1972 and Lancaster General Hospital’s Nursing School as a registered nurse in 1975. Jane began her nursing career in Philadelphia, PA where she met Harry, a Philadelphia policeman. They were married in 1976 and started a family in the city. Jane and Harry moved their family back to Rising Sun in 1989. Jane started the job she was most passionate about in 1990 when she became a school nurse for Cecil County Public Schools. She was adored by many students and faculty as Nurse Jane. Nurse Jane retired from Rising Sun Elementary School in 2016. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Most of all, she loved being Ga to her 4 grandchildren. She picked them up from school every day in her red golf cart decorated with flames. Any time kids were over at the house for a party, she would give them rides in ‘Ridey Red’.
Jane treasured spending time with her family. She had many passions that included making handmade baskets to gift to family and friends, shopping, cooking and baking, and entertaining. Parties at Jane and Harry’s house were legendary. One of Jane’s favorite places was the beach. Throughout her life, she and her family gathered on the water at homes in Fenwick Island, Locust Point, and then Carpenters Point. Ultimately, Jane spent the last several summers at the Outer Banks beach house she and Harry shared with Deb, Dan, and the kids.
