James Vernon McWilliams, Jr., age 95, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at his home. He was born May 19, 1919 in Chester County, PA to the late James V. and Amy (Wagner) McWilliams, Sr.
James answered the call of his country during World War II, where he was a radio/communications specialist in the Army Air Corps serving in the Pacific. Upon his successful return from active duty, he quietly returned home to his family and worked for the Baltimore & Ohio railway until his retirement.
He is survived by his son, James V. McWilliams, III and his wife Patsy of Rising Sun, MD; grandchildren Annette R. McWilliams of TN, James V. McWilliams, IV, of MD, and Michael Alan McWilliams of MD; sisters Marian “Elsie” Stewart of WV, Kathryn Williams of MD, and Pauline Shaeffer and husband Robert of DE; and 10 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Retta, and great grandson Jimmy.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, PA, 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911. Friends and family may visit one hour prior beginning at 10AM. Burial will be private. To send condolences visit www.rtfoard.com
