James J. Walls, Jr., age 55, departed this life on Saturday, December 21, 2013 due to complications from diabetes, surrounded by his loving family.

Jimmy was born July 22, 1958 in Wilmington, DE, the son of the late James J. Walls, Sr. and Mary Fox Walls of Newark.

Jimmy graduated from Christiana High School in Newark, DE and then embarked into the plumbing trade. He was an apprentice for Joseph Fredericks and Sons and continued on with several other plumbing firms throughout his career. He also worked as a heavy equipment operator, concrete finisher, and asphalt paver.

An avid sportsman, Jimmy loved golf, bowling, fishing, and playing darts. He competed in the National Dart Association and even claimed first place in 2002 with his appropriately named team, “We’re First.”

In addition to his mother, Jimmy is survived by his two beautiful children, James and Jennie Lynn Walls of New Castle, DE; his three sisters, Sandra Patterson and husband Wayne of Newark, DE, Sharyn Horton and husband James of Newark, DE and Sheila Baird-Wiley and husband Donald of Newark, DE; brother, Joseph Walls and his companion Judy Collins of Newark, DE; former spouse and mother of his children, Coleen Walls of New Castle, DE, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends. And lastly, his beloved dog, Lady.

His father, James J. Walls, Sr., preceded him in death in 2007.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 12 PM at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711, where friends and family may arrive one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions in Jimmy’s name be made payable to the American Diabetes Association and mailed to the funeral home.
