James “Jim” Hughart Sevy, 86, of Galena, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023.  He was born on December 29, 1936 in Corliss, West Virginia to the late Noel T. Sevy and Mattie A. (Aldridge) Sevy.

Jim proudly served his country in the Air Force from 1954 thru 1957. He worked as a millwright and fabricator at Chrysler for many years and even received a patent for the tool he called the “body locking hold down” device he invented.  Jim was passionate about making things with metal and loved to build and fix things. He was a hard worker and a perfectionist at everything and he loved working in his vegetable garden. Jim loved his puppy dogs, Trixie, Benny, Ziggy and Bucky and they will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice T. Sevy and by his brother Tommy L. Sevy.

Jim is survived by his wife of 23 years, Juanita Sevy; his children, James D. Sevy, Janet Nichols and her husband, Mark, Donald E. Shortlidge and daughter, Sonya L. Loy; Sister, Lois Gail Latta; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

A Life Celebration will be held at 11am at the R.T. Foard and Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE. 19711 where friends and family may begin visiting at 10am. Burial will follow the service at Gracelawn Cemetery, 2220 N. Dupont Hwy. New Castle, DE 19720.
