James Edward McCarthy Sr.

May 8, 1942 - September 18, 2014

James Edward McCarthy, age 72 died peacefully at the home of his longtime friend and companion, Jean (Rothwell) Ash on September 18, 2014 in Elkton, MD. He was born on May 8, 1942 in Baltimore, MD to the late Thomas L. and Evelyn (Cato) McCarthy, Sr.

Jim graduated from Elkton High School in 1961 and moved to Arizona in 1977. In 2013 he returned to Elkton and made his home with Jean. Jim was an avid bowler, golfer, and ball player. He coached many ball teams in the Elkton area including Little League.

He is survived by his son, James E. McCarthy, Jr. of Laveen, AZ; three grandchildren, James Edward McCarthy III, Theresa Marie McCarthy and Michael James McCarthy, and two great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers Thomas L. McCarthy, Jr., and Billy McCarthy, and his sister Dorothy McCarthy.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution checks can be made to “Elkton Little League” and sent c/o R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 E. Main St., Elkton, MD 21921. To send condolences visit www.rtfoard.com.

Jeanie So sorry about Jim, Cheryl & I are thinking about you. You have been such a caring lady, I remember some time ago when we spoke that you told me that he was with you and that he was sick. You have always been a support to so many and God Will be with you through this time and always.Jim never met a stranger and would help anyone. He had a big Heart as you Have always Had to.
