James ‘Benny’ Benson Kirk, age 71, of Perryville, MD, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. He was born on October 26, 1940 to the late Curtis and Ruthie Faye (Patrick) Kirk.
Benny worked as a master electrician at Aberdeen Proving Ground Department of Public Works, where he retired in 2003. He enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling with friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy S. Kirk of Perryville, MD; son, Jeffrey Lee Kirk of Middleburg, FL; daughter, Julie Ann Kirk and her companion, Paul Bailes of Charlestown, MD; step-sons, R. Brian Murray of Churchville, MD and Eric L. Murray and his wife, Beverley of Aberdeen, MD; brothers, William C. Kirk of Destin, FL and Norman T. Kirk of Mobile, AL; sister, Alice Louise Kirk of Philadelphia, PA; and grandchildren, Molly and Hunter Murray of Aberdeen, MD. Benny was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Mae Monger in 2009.
A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 – 5:00 pm on Sunday, June 10, 2012 for friends and family at the Furnace Bay Golf Course Pavilion, 79 Chesapeake View Road, Perryville, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the John Archer School or the Cecil County SPCA, c/o R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
