Jack Keith Bailey Sr., age 88 of Elkton, MD passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 11, 2023. Jack was born on December 25, 1934, in Neodesha, KS to the late Rollen Bailey and Bernita (Powell) Saphir.
Jack proudly served in the United States Navy for 30 years (20 years active, and 10 years reserve) and earned the rank of a Chief Petty Officer. He was a very handy person and was always eager to lend a helping hand. Jack enjoyed working on puzzles, going to the casino, fishing, reading, and watching sports, which included: NASCAR, football, and baseball. He rooted for his home teams: the Ravens and Orioles. Jack enjoyed spending time gardening and tending to his yard.
Jack is survived by his two children, Jack “Keith” Bailey, Jr. and Karen Jarrell and her husband Frank; four grandchildren: Thomas, Rachael, Faith and Matthew; three great-grandchildren: Adeline, Elijah, and Malachi; and niece, Terri Allen.
In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Janet (Slaughter) Bailey and brother, Donald Bailey, Sr.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921, where family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 am. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 11AM at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, DE 19701.
