Irene B. Orth, age 86 of Newark, DE passed away on December 18, 2017. She was born on February 16, 1931 in Wilmington, DE to the late Julian Bors and Valerie (Kuta) Bors.

In years past, Irene worked as a cashier at Penn Fruit in Wilmington, DE for about 20 years. She married her late husband, William J. Orth, III in 1950 and they soon became a family of four. Irene became a stay at home mom where she took great pride in raising her children. She then became a grandmother and great- grandmother to 10 beautiful children. Irene loved flowers and tending to her garden.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Annemarie Perkins and her husband, Charles of Newark, DE; son, William J. Orth, IV and his wife, Nancy of Mechanicsville, MD; five grandchildren: Julia, Nicole, Gordon, Beth, and Erik; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, William, Irene was preceded in death by her sisters: Blanche, Helen, and Sophie as well as her brother, Jesse.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brackenville Center for their compassion and support that they showed Irene and her family for the past four years.

A visitation will be held for Irene on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 11:00am-12:00pm at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Wilmington, DE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to, “Alzheimer’s Association” and sent in care of the funeral home.
