Homer Richard Madron, age 80, of Rising Sun, Maryland, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 25, 1945, in Rising Sun, he was the son of the late Homer Sells Madron and Margie Ethel (née McPeak) Madron. He was the devoted husband of 37 years to his beloved wife, Debra Madron.
Homer proudly served his country, first in the United States Air Force for three years and later with the Air National Guard, where he dedicated more than 30 years of service before his retirement. His strong sense of duty, integrity, and love of country defined much of his life and earned him the respect of all who served alongside him.
Along with his military service, Homer built a long and successful career as a welder. His skills and work ethic led him to share his knowledge with others, and he spent 25 years teaching welding at the Cecil County School of Technology, where he inspired and mentored countless students until his retirement.
A man of many passions, Homer had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed spending time gardening—especially when it came to growing his favorite tomatoes and blueberries. He was also an avid gun enthusiast and collector. In his downtime, Homer loved watching westerns, particularly those starring John Wayne, and listening to Willie Nelson’s timeless tunes.
He and Debra shared a love of travel and adventure, with cruises being among their favorite getaways. Of all their journeys, their memorable trip to Alaska stood out as a highlight. Homer also enjoyed the excitement of visiting Atlantic City, where he liked to try his luck at the slot machines.
Those who knew Homer will remember him for his quiet strength, his sense of humor, and the steadfast love he had for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know and love him.
In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Gizzi.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debra Madron; his children, Dane Madron, Stephanie Madron, Lee Bowman, and Nick Bowman; his grandchildren, Kody, Kimberly, Kole, Madison, Taylor, Ally, and Abby; and his great-grandchildren, Ravyn, Maya, and Elliot. He is also survived by his siblings, George Madron, Neil (Robin) Madron, Raymond (Mary) Madron, Roger (Chris) Madron, Della Perry, and Diana Kirk.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 11:00AM at the Church of the Nazarene in Colora, MD, where friends and family may begin gathering at 10:00AM. A burial at West Nottingham Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to your local VFW, or to “Tunnel to Towers” and sent in care of R.T.
