Hollis “Holly” Albert Coxe, age 68, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2024, in Newark, DE. She was born on January 11, 1956, in Baltimore, MD, to the late James Hollis Buchanan Albert, Jr. and the late Elizabeth (Diehl) Albert. Holly was one of five children, among them her identical twin sister.
Holly attended the University of Delaware, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business education – where she met her husband, Louis “Lou” Henry Coxe V, in a UD ice dancing class. Not long after graduation, Holly and Lou married and began their life together in Newark. After staying home to raise her children, Julie and Henry, Holly found her passion teaching Body & Soul aerobics and later as an ACE Certified Senior Fitness Instructor. Holly, devoted to her faith in Jesus, actively participated in church activities, teaching Sunday school, serving as a Youth Group Advisor alongside her husband, Lou, and was a long-term participant in Bible Study Fellowship.
In her spare time, Holly was engaged in her many passions and interests, which included figure skating, a love she began during her middle school years and that she continued throughout her life. Holly loved all things French, from the language to the culture. She found solace in painting and coloring, using charcoal and other mediums. In the past few years, she had taken to painting with acrylics and could be found making new creations daily. Her many projects adorn their home. Holly enjoyed playing tennis, spending summers with her family at Bethany Beach, and tending to her garden. She enjoyed listening to country music, especially her favorite artists, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, and Brad Paisley.
Holly is survived by Lou, her loving husband of 44 years; daughter, Julianne Orndorff (Joshy), son, Louis Henry Coxe VI (Candace); grandchildren, Forest Orndorff and Riley Orndorff; siblings twin sister Anne Patterson, Elizabeth Apple, Carol Heidel, and Hollis Albert.
A celebration of Holly’s life will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 11 AM, at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 355 Paper Mill Road, Newark, DE 19711, where family and friends may begin visiting at 10 AM. The burial will be private.
