Henry “John” Topper, Jr. of Nottingham, PA, age 83, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022. He was born in Baltimore, MD on December 31, 1938 to the late Henry John Topper and Claudia K. (Busick) Topper.

John loved being on the water and would often go boating or fishing. A man who loved the country life, he enjoyed working on his farm with the horses, goats, dogs and other animals. John was a history buff who was particularly interested in the Civil War. He liked to watch old movies, listen to country music and spending time in his garden or on his tractor.  He spent many vacations camping or cruising. John found his greatest joy in spending time with his family, to whom he was devoted.

John is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Laurie Topper; four children: Mary Patricia Topper Poist, Kathleen Topper Stesch (Michael), Robert Francis Topper (Rose) and Jeanne Marie Topper (Anne); eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters: Pat Strube and Claudia Davis; brother, Michael Topper (Kimberly); former spouse, Patricia Topper Mehl (Edward Jr.); and beloved pets, Parker and Barney

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, William “Billy” Topper; aunt, Betty Hanks; two brothers-in-law: Jerry Strube and Ralph Davis

A celebration of Johns life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911, where family and friends may begin visiting at 1:00 PM. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Hospice & Community Care” and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, PO Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
