Helen G. Reynolds, 93, of Rising Sun, MD, departed this life on Friday May 10, 2013 at Union Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Rising Sun, Helen was the daughter of the late Clarence and Edna (Benson) Gifford. She received her degree in Education from Towson University and taught in the Cecil County Public School System, at the one room school house at Rock Springs, the Colora two room schoolhouse and first grade at Calvert Elementary School. She was a lifetime member of West Nottingham Presbyterian Church, the Retired Teachers Association, Daughters of the American Colonists, Upper Cecil County Senior Citizens Association and the Cecil County Historical Society. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Helen enjoyed researching family history, sewing, flowers, reading and serving on committees at West Nottingham Church. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Priscilla A Devonshire of Colora; three grandchildren, Jeffrey White and his wife Marlana of Rising Sun, Chris White and his wife Heather of North East, and Kimberly (Devonshire) D’Amario and her husband Mark of Rosedale; nine great grandchildren, Britany Mobley, Jenna, Cory, Caleb, Caitlin White, Mia D’Amario, Elizabeth, Summer and Joshua White; a great great grandchild Alexa Mobley; an Aunt Mary Virginia Benson; a nephew Carl Lucas and his wife Jane; and a niece Joanne Tessa and her husband Joe as well as numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband William, her sister Betty Lucas and her son-in-law Joseph Devonshire.
A service honoring her life will be held at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911 on Thursday May 16, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family may call at the funeral home beginning at 12 noon. Burial will follow at West Nottingham Cemetery.
