Helen Catherine Crampton (née Griffith), 80, of Rising Sun, Maryland, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 9, 1944, in Middletown, Maryland, she was the cherished daughter of the late William and Beulah (née Houpt) Griffith.
Helen was the heart of her family, embodying the true essence of love, devotion, and selflessness. She took immense pride in creating a warm and welcoming home, always ensuring that her loved ones were cared for and supported. A dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Helen found her greatest joy in the time she spent with her family.
She had a sweet tooth and never turned down a delicious treat—her face would light up with delight at the smallest indulgence. Helen also had a passion for shopping, always finding joy in browsing stores for the perfect treasure. Her kind and gentle spirit, along with her unwavering love for her family, will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Merle Crampton, Sr., and her dear children, Catherine Lewis and Merle Crampton, Jr.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted daughter, Linda Brooks, and her husband, Roy Brooks III her adored grandchildren, Roy Brooks IV and his wife Charlotte Brooks. Alan Brooks and his significant other, Tiffany Stewart; Angelina Crampton; and John Lewis. She is also survived by her dear siblings, Roger Griffith, Betty Dagenhart, and Pauline Zepp, along with many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
A graveside service to honor Helen’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Holy Cross Cemetery – 6020 Ritchie Hwy, Baltimore, Maryland.
Helen’s love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
