Hazel V. Johnston, Age 93, passed away October 22, 2012 at Millcroft Healthcare Center where she had been a resident for 7 years. Born July 13, 1919, near Milford Cross Roads, Newark, she was the daughter of J. Maskle Johnston & Elsie Whiteman Johnston.
She graduated from Womens College of the University of Delaware in 1941 and began a teaching career in the Media, Pa, Wilmington & Newark School systems. She retired in 1975,
She was a lifelong member of White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, Newark, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Elder, and choir member for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Ruth J. Murray, her brother, Willard M. Johnston & her nephew, Martin W. Johnston. She is survived by her niece, Donna Murray Crook, Shrewsbury, NJ, and 3 great nephews, Randy Johnston, Jeffrey M. Crook, Richmond, Va. & Jonathan M. Crook, Willow Grove, Pa. and a great niece, Madeline M. Crook.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Millcroft for their care and compassion.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711 where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at White Clay Creek Presbyterian Cemetery in Newark, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to White Clay Creek Presbyterian Cemetery Assocation or Millcroft Employee Appreciation Fund c/o the funeral home would be appreciated.
