Hazel Josephine Tollinger, 97, of Rising Sun, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2016, at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center, Havre de Grace.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of Allie J. Hall and Grace E. Smith Hall, and step-daughter of Mabel Barber Hall.
Hazel was a 1936 graduate of Rising Sun High School and following high school, she graduated from Goldey Business College in 1938. Mrs. Tollinger had been employed by Rising Sun Post Office and was a homemaker. She loved playing cards and bingo and belonged to several card clubs in Rising Sun. Her greatest enjoyment was playing Phase 10 with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Tollinger is survived by her son Bob Hall of York, PA; and daughters Betty Hardin and her husband Joe of Havre de Grace, and Janice Moye and her husband Dale of Jamestown, TN; grandchildren Denise Hilliard and her husband Alan of Rising Sun, Scott King and his wife Cindi of Kirkwood, PA, U.S. Army SFC Chris King and his wife Grace of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA, Rebecca King Ruiz and husband Luis of North Canton, OH, Stephanie Hall Barbour of North East, and John Hall and wife Toni of Elkton; 12 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; and special friends Suzanne Lamborn, Roger White and Rita Coleman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Betty Duff, and brother-in-law Woody Duff; daughter Anne Brewer; husbands William Brewer and Pete Tollinger; dear friend Frank Lamborn; grandson Ronald Graybeal, Jr.; and son-in-law Richard Fritter.
Visitation will be held at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a celebration of her life at 1 p.m. Interment will be private for the family at West Nottingham Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Rising Sun High School Alumni Association sent in care of the funeral home.
