Harold “Harry” Edward Nickle, was called home by his Lord and Savior on July 25, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Born August 10, 1930 to Ernest J. and Edna (Harris) Nickle. His wife of sixty-seven years, Edith Carter Nickle passed in 2015.
Mr. Nickle was a lifelong farmer, farming with G.P. Connelly and Sons for thirty years, and also was a tractor/equip mechanic for Biggs, Inc for twenty-five years until his retirement. After retiring he and his son, Ed mowed several yards and churches. Mr. Nickle was a 75 year member of Ocklokonee Tribe of Improved Order of Redmen in Oxford, PA.
Mr. Nickle, along with his wife were caretakers of Mount Pleasant Church for many years.
Mr. Nickle enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing, watching baseball, country music, and being with his family.
Mr. Nickle is survived by three sons: Paul “Ed” (Linda), John (Sandi), and Jim (Sharon); one daughter, Barbara “Sue” (Albie) Biggs; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren; three brothers, and two sisters.
Along with his parents and wife, Mr. Nickle was predeceased by three brothers, four sisters, and a great granddaughter.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 1713 Liberty Grove Road, Colora, MD 21917 where family and friends are welcome to join. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Mount Pleasant Church” and send in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
