Harold Clark Hammond “Reds” age 86, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 23, 2023. He was born on September 9, 1936 in Milford, DE to the late Frederick Hammond, and Mary (Glendaniel) Hammond.
Harold proudly served in the Air National Guard for 8 years. He worked for Chrysler Corporation for 44 years until his retirement in December 1999. Harold made many lifelong friends during his time at Chrysler. He was a kind person with a huge heart. Harold’s favorite activities included camping, fishing and crabbing. He spent many summers along the Chesapeake Bay in Rock Hall Maryland with family and friends where he caught bushels of crabs through the years in the Chester River but never ate one of them. He enjoyed watching football – especially University of Delaware Blue Hens. Harold was always into race cars, no matter what size or shape. He enjoyed watching stock car racing, drag racing, and NASCAR. Harold loved his family and his favorite dog Sonny. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Victoria (Masarik) Hammond; daughters, Lisa Baxter (Jeff), Carrie Tenney (Randy), and Loni Mussar (Michael); grandchildren, David Hammond, Brandi Wright, Dylan Miller, Jimmy Wright, Brittny Wright, great grandchild Camden Hammond and one on the way; sisters, Barbara Lovett (Doug), and Patricia Rittenhouse (George).
In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his brothers, Lemuel Hammond, and Russell Hammond.

A celebration of Harold’s life will be held on June 29, 2023 at 11 AM, at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE where family and friends may begin visiting at 10 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the “Chesapeake Bay Foundation” in care of R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.
