Guy Lee Powers, 84, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2016 at his home. Born on July 23, 1932 in Lansing, NC, he was the son of the late Saul P. Powers and Clyde Hart.
After proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, Guy worked as a painter for the U.S. Government for many years retiring from the facilities group at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis. He was a member of VFW 8185 of Port Deposit, MD and the American Legion Post 194 of Rising Sun, MD. Guy had many hobbies, including, hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, and shooting (especially turkey shoots); and his especially loved his beagles.
Guy is survived by two daughters: Shelly Barrett and her husband, Steve, of Colora, MD, and Sharon Jenkins of Rising Sun, MD; four grandchildren: Stefanie Barrett of Islamorada, FL, Tiffanie Huntsman and her husband, Steve, of Colora, MD, Chisa Jenkins of Elkton, MD, and Barry Lane Jenkins, Jr. of Elkton, MD; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Guy is preceded in death by his wife, Emma Frances Powers; daughter, Sandra Powers; son-in-law, Barry Lane Jenkins, Sr.; and two brothers, Norman Powers and Eddie Adams.
A Service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 South Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
