Grace Ann Cather, beloved wife of William “Buddy” Cather, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 9, 2014. Grace succumbed to pancreatic cancer after a long and courageous struggle.

Born in Havre De Grace, MD., on March 6, 1954, Grace lived her entire life in the Rising Sun area. Grace loved children and throughout her life she was devoted to those young people who were placed into her care. She loved and cared for her family and friends and was greatly loved in return by all. Grace brightened the day of all who knew her. Grace deeply missed her friends and co-workers at West Nottingham Play School and greatly appreciated their devotion and thoughtfulness during her illness. Grace fed and cared for all manner of wildlife around her home and although the feeders are now empty, they will overflow again.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Seasons Hospice, Regional Hematology & Oncology, VNA Home Health of Maryland and Dr. Joseph Weidner.

Grace is survived by her husband: Buddy, her sons, Bob and Will and Will’s wife, Ann and their daughters; Hailey and Makayla, all residing in Rising Sun. She is also survived by her parents, Ray and Mildred Price of Rising Sun; sister, Debbie Lowe, and brother, Charles Price. In addition, Grace is also survived by aunts, uncles and many cousins throughout the Rising Sun area and she will be sorely missed by her faithful dog, Harley.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, February 14, 2014 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10AM. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.

Thank you for being such a good friend. You are missed by all of us at West Nottingham Child Care. We think of you often.

To the Cather family we are so sorry that Mrs. Grace has left us. Though she will be missed greatly, we know she is at peace. Shelby will always keep her in her thoughts and try to keep on being the good girl that Mrs. Grace always knew and loved. We were so lucky to have known her. Thank you for sharing her with us. Buddy, Will & Family, Bob, Patti & I are sorry to hear of Grace's passing. I know that the past months of suffering and pain are over for her, but it will still be with all of you for time to come. We want you to know that we will be praying for the peace that only the Lord Jesus can give at a difficult time like this. Our most heartfelt sympathy to Buddy and his sons and their family for Grace's passing to be with our Heavenly Father. Grace was the kindest sweetest person we knew and our memories of her will be cherished. She always had the prettiest gentlest smile for everyone around her. i went to school with grace and her sister debbie. they were clasmates of mine. i just remember them being very nice. so sorry for the family's loss

I have many good memories of time spent with Grace Ann. From the time of a very young age. I used to walk to Grace Ann and Buddy's house from school and spent a lot of hours laughing with them.
