Gladys Malin, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Calvert Manor Nursing Home in Rising Sun.
She was born on April 4, 1923 in Newark, DE. Gladys worked at the Elkton Diner on route 40 for many years as well as the Cross Road Diner in Delaware. She also worked for Bay-Shore in Elkton for many years. She then went on to work at Avon in Newark, where she later retired. Gladys was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Elkton Fire Department and the Rising Sun Ladies Auxiliary.
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, along with her husband, Wilson Cather and second husband, Robert Malin.
She is survived by her daughter Dorothy and her husband, Joe Towers of Altus, OK; her good friend and caregiver, Carolyn Gilbert of Cochranville, PA; sister, Esther Cartwright of Rising Sun, MD; and half- sister, Joan Merrill of Lancaster, PA.
Services will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911, where friends and family may call one hour prior. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvert Manor Nursing Home Scholarship Fund, c/o the funeral home.
