George Shestock, age 91, of Chesapeake City, MD, passed away on December 13, 2011 at Christiana Hospital. He was born on March 25, 1920 to the late Alexander and Anastasia Shestock.
George was a U.S. Army veteran and served in WWII in the 115th Horse Calvary, 126th Recon Calvary, 3324 S.I.M.C and the 380th Combat Engineers. George later worked for General Motors and retired on September 30, 1977 after 30 years. He was known for helping others. George enjoyed working on tractors and fixing them. He could often be found working in the barn.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Irene Shestock of Chesapeake City, MD; brother, Martin Shestock and his wife, Phyllis of Chesapeake City, MD; sister, Catherine Piri of Chesapeake City; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Shestock and Anna Shestock; brother in law, Joseph Piri; and niece, Christine Donohue Shestock.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, December 19, 2011 in the St. Basils UC Church in Chesapeake City, MD. Friends and family may also visit on Sunday, December 18, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and Monday, December 19 from 8:30 to 9:30 am at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 318 George Street, Chesapeake City, MD 21915. Burial will follow at St. Rosa Lima Cemetery in Chesapeake City. Memorial contributions may be made to Northern Chesapeake Hospice Foundation, c/o the funeral home.
