George Howard Wilson, 98, of Elkton, Maryland, passed away at Booth Il, assisted living facility on Sunday, July 30, 2023. George was born March 6th, 1925, he was the son of Mamie Logan Wilson and Albert Wilson of Providence, Maryland. After graduating from Kenmore High School, George entered the United States Coast Guard, where he was Gunner Mate 2nd class, December 7, 1942 to April 19, 1946, during World War ll.
George and his wife, Edith (Reynolds), who passed away in 1980, owned and operated Domestic Plumbing and Heating in Elkton for over 44 years, where several of his children had worked and learned the trade. George was a member of the Master Plumbers Association, Rotary Club, The Knights of Columbus, Immaculate Conception Church and as a coach for the Elk Mills Little League Yankees. George enjoyed square dancing and was an avid Hunter of venison, goose and duck, he was also a Commercial Crabber, when at the end of the day he enjoyed sharing his wealth with family and friends.
George encouraged his children with their many activities, traveling to Michigan to present his son James with the Salesman of the Year award, watching football, field hockey, and soccer games at EHS, attending band concerts, parades and dance recitals. George always did like a good John Philip Sousa March. George also enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in school plays, musical concerts, Minds in Motion competitions, soccer, baseball, softball and volleyball games.
George is survived by his children: James and Judy Wilson (Jackson, Michigan), Zane Wilson (NY City), Neil and Ling Wilson (Elkton, Maryland), Mary and James Barrow (North East, Maryland). George was preceded in death by his daughter Amy Wilson Schnatz (Charley Schnatz) and son, Blaine Joseph Wilson (Tara). George is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren, Several nieces and nephews, wonderful friends Jerry and Barb Jackson, Krystal and Clara from Endearment.
Another thank you to grandson Jeff and daughter-in-law Crystal, Son-in-laws Charley and Jim for all the car rides, dinners and treats while driving down country. We cannot forget Sailor, who always sat on the sofa with George. A special thank you to Booth Il, Kathy and her wonderful team for being so kind to George. Thank you for your care and love for George to the hospice team. You all are awesome. Special thanks to Doctor Ma who was always kind and supportive of George.
There will be a cremation, with a private graveside celebration with military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Wildlife Federation or Ducks Unlimited and send in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 E. Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921.
