Gary Matthew Seydell, age 58, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025. Born on April 16, 1967, in Wilmington, Delaware, Gary was the beloved son of the late James Alfred Seydell and Lynne Mary Seydell (Weber).
Gary will be lovingly remembered by his brothers, Jay Seydell and his wife, Leslie, and Greg Seydell and his girlfriend, Alicia; his nephews, Michael Seydell and Walker Seydell; his niece, Elizabeth Seydell; and his cousin, Connie Seydell. He was preceded in death by his cousin, Jimmy Seydell.
A devoted son, Gary cared deeply for his parents throughout their lives. He was a loving brother, uncle, and friend to all who were fortunate enough to know him. Gary cherished not only his family by birth but also the many nieces and nephews who became like family through friendship and love.
Gary, a gifted tenor, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Voice from the University of Delaware, a Master of Music in Vocal Performance, and an Artist Diploma in Opera from the University of Cincinnati College–Conservatory of Music where he was the recipient of the Norman Treigle Memorial Scholarship.  He has been adjunct professor of voice at the University of Delaware, Visiting Assistant Professor at The State University of New York College, and Visiting Artist at the University of the Bahamas.  He has performed with orchestras and opera houses throughout the United States, Australia, The Bahamas, Fiji, Finland, New Zealand, Ukraine, and Italy.  His passion for music and education shaped a lifelong career of creativity, mentorship, and service to others.
Most recently, Gary served as the Director of Academic Advising at Wilmington University, where his compassion and insight left an indelible mark on students and colleagues alike. He had an extraordinary gift for understanding people while bringing warmth, kindness, and inspiration to every conversation.  He was a dedicated mentor, teammate, and friend who always had a smile.
Gary’s faith was the foundation of his life. He was deeply devoted to his relationship with God and lived out his beliefs through kindness, service, and compassion. His faith guided his work, his relationships, and his daily life, providing him with strength, peace, and purpose. Gary was a devoted member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church.  He found great joy and meaning in fellowship and worship. His gentle spirit and unwavering trust in Jesus were evident to all who knew him.
Gary’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the beautiful voice that he shared, and the love and faith he embodied. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his unwavering kindness, his thoughtful heart, and his gentle soul.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 109 Gypsy Hill Road, Landenberg, PA 19350. A visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers donations may be made payable to “Harvest USA” and mailed to 715 Twining Road, Suite 200 Dresher, PA 19025.
