Gary Hobart Adams, aged 81, of Rising Sun, MD, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. He was born in Freeland, MD, on November 2, 1941, and was the cherished son of the late Jesse and Leora (nee, Wayne) Adams. For 60 years, he was the beloved husband of Ute Adams.
Gary’s life was marked by his dedicated service to his country. He served honorably for 30 years in the US Air Force as an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor, achieving the esteemed rank of Chief Master Sergeant before his well-deserved retirement. Post-service life found Gary embarking on new adventures. He became the proud owner of a tractor-trailer and, accompanied by his loving wife Ute, reveled in exploring the vast expanse of the country.
Gary was also a skilled golfer. His passion for the sport enriched his life and brought joy to those who shared the fairway with him. He was a lifetime member of both the American Legion and V. F. W., further underscoring his dedication to community and service.
Gary will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. He leaves behind a legacy of commitment, adventure, and camaraderie.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Thomas Lee Adams.
In addition to his loving wife, Ute, Gary is survived by his son, Andreas Adams, and his wife Janet of Theresa, NY. His memory also lives on through his two granddaughters, Desiree Adams and Chelsea Abbott, as well as his two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Logan.
A graveside service to honor Gary’s life will be held at West Nottingham Cemetery. Please refer to the date and time details provided by the family.
