At the rising of the sun, on Sunday, February 1, 2015, Fredderrick Garry Jackson, Sr., in the loving arms of his wife Patricia Lyle-Jackson and surrounded by loving family members, Garry united with his heavenly Father and is now at peace.
Garry and Patricia were united for 45 years. From this union they received their biggest blessings, Douglas Jackson (Sandra), Fredderrick Garry Jackson, Jr. and Cher R. Jackson. Additional blessings include 7 grandchildren, Khirah Jackson, Robert Jackson, Jordan Jackson, Mikaila Jackson, Raymond Jackson, Coleman Jackson and Kyle Jackson.
A 1970, graduate of Elkton High School, Garry entered the construction field and later entered college at Delaware Technical Community College and became a licensed journeyman machinist. Garry was a longtime member of Griffith AUMP Church, which he served in many capacities. Garry loved coaching and coached for the Cherry Hill Cougars for more than ten years. He also enjoyed farming, riding horses and was an avid Eagles fan.
In a celebration of life, he leaves to share his memories, three brothers, Bishop Delbert L. Jackson, Wayne and William Jackson. Four sisters, Rhonda Jackson, Margo Brown, Regina Webster and Sandra Townley. He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Edith M. Jackson; brother, Reginald Jackson and sister, Jean Earl.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at Pleasant Hill Worship Center, 32 Hilltop Road, Elkton, MD 21921, with a visitation from 10am – 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Patricia Jackson and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 E. Main St., Elkton, MD 21921. I'd like to extend my deepest sympathy and prayers to Garry's entire family. Garry and I were classmates together and were linemen together on the football team. With Garry passing it has sure stirred a lot of memories in me, as we'd already lost a couple of us already. Garry and I locked legs a many time against a lot of opponents, and let me tell you with Garry Jackson beside you, you never had to worry about not being covered or somebody not standing tall with you. I cannot remember one time of not trusting Garry and being proud that Garry Jackson was beside me. From what I've read, from his family and friends, that's how he lived his life, we should all strive to leave such a legacy. I left Md. in the 1970's and when I returned for my 20th reunion, all of a sudden somebody bearhugged me from behind and picked me up off the ground, I didn't even have to hear his voice, I knew who it was. What a friend. Though with the passing of someone like Garry, such voids are created, and we can never stop missing them, we need to thank God for allowing us to have such wonderful memories to help us deal with it. I first met Garry many years ago when I was playing Baseball next to Pat Coyles house, I saw this young man walking a horse and I asked who he was and Pat Coyle told my Dad & I his Name is Garry Jackson. We have known each other since. He and I in recent years talked about Griffith Cemetery that he took care. But when we would talk he always talked about his lovely wife Pat and his Children.Just a few months ago Garry came down to my house after his stroke. Then he talked about the Church and Cemetery and wanted his Brother Bishop Delbert Jackson to come down and talk with he and I about setting up Guidelines for the Cemetery.
