Frank Joseph Kennedy, Jr., age 80, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on October 30, 1945, in Bridgeport, CT, Frank was the loving son of the late Frank Joseph Kennedy, Sr., and the late Frances Elizabeth (Stead) Kennedy.
Frank proudly served in the United States Army for 8 ½ years, where he was stationed across Europe, Korea, and the United States. In 1967, while stationed in Heidelberg, Germany, Frank met his wife Gale at a Service Club. Their connection was immediate, and they married the following year in 1968. Together, they built a wonderful family, and a shared devotion to each other and their faith.
Frank worked as a truck driver, where he was known for his kindness and reliability. His time spent working with Operations Blessing reflected his desire to help others and contribute positively to the community around him. For over 20 years, Frank was a proud member of Yahweh’s Free Brethren, where he served as an Elder. His spiritual journey was one of deep devotion, as he focused on being close and getting closer to Yahweh, guiding others in their own paths of faith.
A man of many talents, Frank was musically inclined, playing both the drums and guitar. He often played in a band, sharing his love for music with those around him. Frank touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on his family, friends, and community. His unwavering faith and dedication to helping others will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege to know him.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Gale A. Kennedy; children: Frank Joseph Kennedy, III (Christine), Judi Kennedy, Brian Kennedy, Joseph Kennedy (Erica) and daughter-in-law, Kristin Kennedy; grandchildren: Jason, Cheralyn, Michael, Koryn, Molly, Addison, Chase, Ephram, Ananias, Jubilee, Hosanna, Ruth, Ezra, and Bethany; 5 great grandchildren; brother, John Kennedy (Sandra); and sister, Patricia Kennedy (Joop Meijer)
In addition to his parents, Frank is preceded in death by his son, Sean Kennedy; granddaughter, Katie Kennedy; sister Maryann Kennedy; and niece Amanda Prince.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at 12:00 pm on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at R.T. Foard and Jones, Inc. 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711 where friends and family may begin visiting at 11:00 am. Burial will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to “Yahweh’s Free Brethren Church” and sent in care of the funeral home.
