Glenn - I remember how fondly you spoke of your mother. I did not have the pleasure of meeting her but I've gotten such a sense of this beautiful woman from what I've read here. You all did your best for her. Wishing you and the entire family peace as you adjust.

To Glenn , Nora, and family, I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful mother. Fran and I met when enjoying classes at the senior center. She always greeted me and had a smile on her face.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

With her constant smile and upbeat attitude Fran has been someone I have admired for a number of years at the Newark Senior Center. She will be missed by many. My condolences to all your family.

To Fran’s family, I hope that each passing day helps to shift your sadness at losing her towards joy at having made her so happy. She loved you all. For me, Fran started out as a distant relative, then we became neighbors and some time ago, we became friends. I appreciated her intelligence, wit, curiosity and willingness to try new things, long after most people become "set in their ways." I often thought – and I told her – that when I grow old, I hope I can do it half as well as Fran did. I will miss her, but I am sure glad that I was lucky enough to get to know her.

I’ll remember a cherished friendship with Fran – celebratory lunches on our respective birthdays, long walks along the Pomeroy Trail (especially during the Pandemic, adorned with our masks); hearing stories of Fran’s “young & naïve” modeling days, excitement over her trip to the Olympics, pride & love for her children & grandchildren; descriptions of the early days of our neighborhood & the city, & especially remembering her days @ the Red Barn & pasture that she viewed from my yard. I have a ceramic rabbit Fran gave me displayed on my fireplace mantle for Easter – thinking & remembering fondly the greater gifts of experiences & stories we shared also at the kitchen table, relaxing on the sofa or on the screened porch with Ozzie & Ariat purring nearby. Sending my heartfelt warm & caring condolences to Glen, Nora, Val & Donna; to Marten, Laurel, Andrew & Robert and her brother William. We were all richly blessed to have had Fran in our lives. Rest peacefully dear friend, until we meet again.

We met Fran about five years ago in yoga class at the Newark Senior Center. Our last meeting was for lunch on Valentine’s Day , also at the NSC. We had a lovely time. Fran always inspired us with her independence and good sense. Rest in peace dear Fran.

Robert and I are so very sorry for your loss. She was a lovely woman, very kind and sincere, and will be missed by so many. May God hold you close during this time of sadness. I believe that the light in her that burned so brightly in here on Earth is surely burning even more brightly with her up in Heaven, and she is looking down on everyone with love.

So sorry to hear of Fran's passing - what a sweet, genuine person who lit up a room every time she entered. Fran was a dealer at our antique shop many, many years ago and was so much fun to be around. She has reunited with her husband and we will all meet again when our time comes. To her children - thank you for sharing your mother with us, even for a short time.
Cathy Raphael left a message on March 27, 2026:
I am so sad to lose beautiful Fran - a lovely, intelligent, and knowledgeable lady whom I met through the antique business and who was well loved and respected by many! Fran and I had many things in common - mostly our love for beautiful antiques and loveable animals! Once I gifted her a bracelet given to me as a gift by Eleuthere & Araminta duPont (when I was a secretary to him at Sigma American Corporation in Greenville) - it had a horse theme and I thought she, with her love of horses, would appreciate it (and it was a little too big for my wrist.). Mr. duPont was a fine, fine man and I missed him terribly when he had an early trip to heaven himself. Fran looked WAY younger than she was. What wonderful genes you children all must have! How blessed you are for having her for a mother! I look forward to seeing her in heaven....

Please accept my sincere sympathy for the passing of Fran. I knew her only briefly through the Senior Center Meditation meetings every Thursday morning. She was a sweet lovely lady. Her quiet personality was so refreshing. She spoke of her wonderful family many times. May the memories you shared be of comfort to you in the days ahead.

Mrs. Zelluk, whether I was collecting money for the Evening Journal, or playing around in your basement (and braking your iron) you were always so sweet. Glen, Donna, and Valerie, I pray you get through this period of grief. Your mom would've been a strong candidate for "World's Best Mom."
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Dear Val, I am so sorry for your loss. The memories of your mom are some of the strongest from my teen years. My first 1970's Etienne Aigner item was a belt she gave me for my birthday. I will never forget her buying us twin ski jackets from Norm Gershman's (sp?) in 1979ish. Mine had some sort of minor defect. (it was Gershman's, so of course it did!) Your mom created a chevron like patch to hide the mark. It made my jacket extra special and unique. I am sure you have thousands of happy memories to bring you comfort during this time. Summon them as you grieve.

Fran was a role model for many. I met her at the Newark Senior Citizen through her very great friend Veronica. Fran was always so bubbly and full of life. I can remember her being in charge of the Women's Salon at the NSC Flea Market. She was quite a worker. I can honestly say she put me to shame with her ability to work a full day----while I put in 2 hours and called it quits. (smile) Rest in Peace, Fran! Your friend. Mae

I always have her as a babysitter. I loved her warm hugs. Every week in Elkton, MD, I always invite her over to have dinner with us having her favorite pasta Spaghetti. Grandma always loves the pool with the family & towards her loved ones. I always remember that Grandma loves to daze in the sun in lounge chair with her pool hat & her sunglasses. Sometimes she will come in the pool & feel the water on her skin. Sometimes, I used to have a sunroof room that Grandma & Nana use to love a lot. Before I was born, Nana used to make Bake Mac for my Grandmother & mother a lot. Sometimes I do see Nana & Grandpa presence. They always tell me "please wish your mother that we said hi". Since I was born, I was caressing a lot by her & my mother. What makes me feel unique is I was born gifted & saw my passed relatives in my dreams in 2021 from my mother's side of the family. I know this is a lot & I can recall lots of memories. I'm sending my prayers, my light, & the holy spirit to keep my grandmother protected by me & God. Amen! 🙏
