Florence Catherine Crawson, 49, of Newark, DE went home to be with her Savior on Friday, May 3, 2013 after a courageous fight with cancer. She was home, surrounded by family and friends.

She was born November 30, 1963 in Oceanside, NY and graduated from Lynbrook High School in 1981. Florence loved her family and was a selfless, compassionate woman. She gave freely to anyone in need and always went above and beyond. Her grandchildren brought her great joy and she enjoyed spoiling them. She was passionate about animal rights and loved her two fur-babies, Bandit and Callie. Growing up she loved the family barbeques and pool parties at her parent’s home in Lynbrook, NY and had a special place in her heart for her dog Candy and her cat Maxine. She loved being with her family at the beach, especially Ocean City, MD and cookouts in Upstate New York.

She is survived by her parents, Spencer and Florence Langdon, Sr. of Newark, DE; her brother, Spencer Langdon, Jr. and his wife, Christine, and nieces and nephews Deanna L., Marilyn L., Heather Tiniakos, Michael L. and Michael Tiniakos of Oceanside, NY; her daughter Crystal Bowden and her husband, Matthew, and grandchildren, Lilyanna, Leyna, Laci, Lia, Lennox, and Lincoln of Hancock, NY; her daughter, Katrina Crawson and grandchildren, Juliana, Chase, and Arissa of Myrtle Beach, SC; her son Malcolm Crawson and fiancée, Arissa Suarez of Orlando, FL; and her stepdaughter, Angelica Crawson of Pine Bush, NY.

A service honoring Florence’s life will be held at 2pm Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Gracelawn Chapel, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720. Family and friends may visit beginning at 1pm. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Delaware Humane Association c/o R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711.

I remember your Mom when you were all little kids...and she was always there for you. She loved you all...and did her very best to make a good life for all of you. I was lucky to run into Crystal about a year ago(who was probably 4 or 5 the last time I saw her..and she remembered me!) I was honored. I remember Katrina and Malcolm as well. I read how proud your mom was of you all. I am so honored to ever have been in your lives and my hopes and prayers are for you all to be @ peace and lean on your faith to help you through this sad time. My deepest sympathies to Spencer and his parents as well as Florence's children. As chilldren, Florence was always sweet and its obvious that as a woman she was amazing. I wish I would have been able to know her as well as I have come to know my new brother lthese past few years. My heart goes out to her children and grandchildren...its so very clear how much she loved them and they her. God bless you all and give you strength. But know your mom is always there...that kind of love never, ever leaves. She will always be with you...watching over you all. XOXO.
