Evelyn Marie “Peggy” Jackson, age 73, of Elkton, MD peacefully passed away at home with her loving husband of 54 years by her side on December 3, 2022. She was born in Port Deposit, MD on September 9, 1949 to the late B. Junior Frazier and Margaret Louise (Brown) Frazier.
Following graduation, Peggy married her high school sweetheart Everett “Rett” Jackson, and began her life as a proud military wife. The couple lived in San Francisco, CA and Germany during the early years of their marriage and military life, before moving back to Maryland to start a family. Together they bought their forever home in Elkton, MD where they raised their two children, made lifelong friends and enjoyed many years of happiness. Peggy shared a love for country music with her husband, attending many concerts and local music festivals together. She cherished her grandchildren and loved spending time with her family. In the summertime, she would spend her weekends at their beach home in Lewes, DE. Peggy enjoyed taking annual cruises and vacations with her husband and their closest group of friends, the “FOPs.” Some of their most memorable trips were to the Caribbean Islands, Canada, Las Vegas, NV, and the Outer Banks, NC.
For several years, Peggy proudly served on the planning committee for class reunions of Rising Sun High School’s graduating class of 1967. As a loving mother, she devoted time to support her children during their sporting games, and became a familiar face/voice cheering them on from the stands. During her son’s younger years, she volunteered as “Team Mom” for the North East Junior League Football Team. To show appreciation for each player’s participation in the league, she would write to various NFL teams asking for souvenirs to give out at the annual awards banquets, so that each boy had something from their favorite NFL team to take home. Peggy also coached her daughter’s cheerleading squad for the wrestling team at North East High School.
Peggy began working for the University of Delaware in 1985, and after 26 devoted years, she retired in 2011 as a Senior Administrative Secretary for The School of Education. During her employment with the University, notably she worked in the Department of Finance, The Development Office, Department for Educational Studies, and for the Department of Educational Development. Her earlier employment career included working for Bainbridge Naval Training Center and for Perrypoint Veterans Administration.
Surviving Peggy is her husband, Everett Jackson; two children, Brian (Anne) Jackson, Nikki (George) Breder; four grandchildren, Shane (Emily) Andrews, Stephanie Andrews, Savannah Breder, and Seth Breder; as well as two great grandchildren, Maisie Andrews and Jude Potee. Two brothers also survive her, David (Gail) Frazier, and Paul Frazier as well as many aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Wayne Frazier.
