Evelyn June Scott McMahon, age 72, of Newark, DE passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016. Evelyn was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 30, 1943.
Evelyn was employed by JC Penney where she fabricated window treatments. She also was a delivery driver for George’s Deli in Middletown, DE. Evelyn was a member of the Cornerstone Senior Center. She enjoyed spending time with family, cross stitching, and painting ceramics. She was proud of her collection of witches and loved everything associated with Mardi Gras. According to her family, she was full of life.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Charles Scott, of Sanford, FL; daughters, Kathryn Heiber and husband, Mick, of Keysville, VA, Alice Scott, of Smyrna, DE, and Loretta Durrell and husband, Mark, of Newark, DE; five step-children, 25 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Carl, and wife, Patricia, of Milford, DE; sisters, Alice Kriebel and husband, Steven, of Newark, DE, and Kathryn Farmer and husband, David, of Townsend, DE.
She is predeceased by her parents, Charles Rudolph and Evelyn June Carl; husbands, Richard Scott, Sr., and Clifford McMahon; daughter, Jacqueline Whiteman, son, Richard Scott, Jr.; and brother, James Carl.
A funeral service for Evelyn will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. A visitation will be held at the funeral home 1 hour prior at 10:00 AM where friends and family are welcome to attend. Burial will follow at Newark Cemetery, Chapel and New St., Newark, DE 19711.
A wake will be held immediately following the burial at The Glasgow Pines Clubhouse, 801 Scotland Drive, Newark, De 19702 from 1 pm – 5 pm.
