Evelyn Elizabeth “Betty” Holland, 83, of Chesapeake City, MD, passed away August 19, 2013 at Union Hospital.
Born in Prince Frederick, MD on May 17, 1930, Betty was the daughter of the late Samuel Harrison and Thelma Buck Buckmaster. Betty was a homemaker who loved to cook. She was a life member of VFW Chesapeake City Post 7687. Betty will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Betty loved to cook and care for her family and friends. She was a person that was truly devoted to helping veterans and veteran’s causes. She made friends where ever she went. She liked to shop, sew and do ceramics. She would never give up unless a task was finished.
Leaving to cherish her memory are two sons, Michael Holland and wife Jacqueline of Prince Frederick, MD, and Anthony Holland of Chesapeake City; a daughter, Kimberly Roland and her husband Bob of Earleville, MD; four grandchildren, Edward Holland, Jennifer Page, John Holland and James Holland; 5 great grandchildren; four brothers, Sammy, Danny, Keith and Kevin Buckmaster and a sister Donna Canter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Andy Holland who died in 2002, 2 sisters, Sylvia and Ellen, and a brother Mark.
According to her wishes there will be no viewing or visitation. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday August 25th at the VFW Post 7687 in Chesapeake City, 304 Basil Ave. Memorial contribution checks may be made payable to the VFW Post 7687 Ladies Auxiliary and mailed to R.T.
