Eujene “Eugene” Jones Wood, Sr., age 80, of Elkton, MD passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. He was born on March 30, 1944, in Lansing, NC. Eugene was the son of the late George Wood, and Flossie (Hamm) Wood.
Eugene began his career as a truck driver for overnight transportation, a job he held for over 30 years before retiring. Eugene enjoyed being outside and watching western movies, his favorite, “Gun Smoke”. Family was Eugene’s passion, he lived for his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. Eugene was a loving father, grandfather, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Eugene is survived by his sons: Eugene Wood Jr., and James Wood (wife, Amanda); grandchildren: Alex Wood, Bryan Wood, Celia Wood, and James “JJ” Wood Jr.
In addition to his parents, Eugene is preceded in death by his wife Carrie Wood, and daugther, Beverly Nochadill.
Services for Eugene will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
